Items below are either prohibited entirely, require special permits, need extra documentation, face elevated duties, or are age-restricted under Jamaica Customs Agency rules. Plants & Plant Material (Seeds, Bulbs, Cuttings)
All plant material requires a Plant Importation Permit for biosecurity. This includes flower seeds, vegetable seeds, bulbs, cuttings, and live plants. Unauthorized items are destroyed.

Includes Jackery / Goal Zero / Anker power stations, ebike batteries, and large laptop batteries. Many forwarders refuse air shipment of these items.

Bulk cosmetics require an ingredient list and may need Bureau of Standards approval. Personal-use quantities (1–2 items) usually pass without issue.

Wine, beer, and spirits face significant excise tax (often 100%+) plus standard duty, GCT, and Special Consumption Tax (SCT).

Cigarettes, cigars, and tobacco face extremely high SCT on top of duty. Often double or triple the US retail price after customs.

De minimis exemption — USD $100. Items valued at or under USD $100 clear Jamaica Customs with no duty, no GCT, and no government fees — you only pay freight. This applies per shipment, not per year. Keep individual shipments under the threshold to maximize savings, but note that combining multiple items in one package can push you over.

0% duty on computers, laptops & tablets. Under Jamaica's digital productivity incentive, the following items import at 0% customs duty regardless of value: laptops, desktops, tablets (including iPads), Kindles & e-readers, computer monitors, keyboards, mice, webcams, RAM, SSDs, CPUs, GPUs, motherboards, routers, modems, printers, scanners, and most computer parts. GCT (15%) and government fees still apply on shipments over $100 USD — but you skip the 20% duty entirely.
